The iPhone 3G has finally arrived here after being officially launched by etisalat.

“iPhone is a perfect blend of advanced functionality and high performance and we are delighted to be one of the first operators in the region to offer this to our customers on the nation’s most advanced high-speed network to make calls, send emails and surf the web even faster,” Etisalat’s Chief Marketing Officer, Essa Al Haddad said.

Here’s the critical part for those eager to get their hands on one. Etisalat has offered four packages for both the 8GB and the 16GB models, with each one requiring a minimum one-year contract.

One of these plans (Postpaid Plan 1), will cost up to AED 2,646 for the 8GB model and AED 3,090 for the 16GB model with additional AED 199 rental charges per month for a one-year contract. This package would include 125 minutes of national calls, 125 sms and 500MB of data per month each.

There are other options as well, with postpaid plan 4 offering the 8GB for free but with rental charges as high as AED 643 per month and including 500 minutes of national calls, 300 sms and 2000MB of data per month.
