The scooper of Best Pop Act, Best British Male awards and Best New Artist and Biggest Selling British Artist in the World, with three hit releases under his belt, and a sales record of 11 million CDs is to perform for the first time in UAE during the 7th edition of Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival 2009 at Dubai Media City Outdoor Amphitheater. The festival will kick off on February 18th and ties up on the 27th of the same month with more than 250 artists participating.

Described by Q Magazine as ‘A major talent in waiting’, James Blunt used to be a military captain, but he left the army in 2002 to concentrate on music full-time.

James Blunt is Britain’s latest easy-listening export. His hit songs “You’re Beautiful” and “Goodbye My Lover” from his debut Back to Bedlam were 2005’s deep-feeling favorites.

Singer/songwriter James Blunt is a thoughtful performer with a knack for crafting melodic contemporary soft rock tunes. His debut album, Back To Bedlam, and single releases — especially the number one hit “You’re Beautiful” — brought him to fame in 2005. His style is a mix of pop, folk and acoustic rock.

Along with vocals, James Blunt plays a wide variety of instruments including the piano, guitar, organ, marimba and mellotron. He became the first British artist to top the American singles chart in nearly a decade when his song “You’re Beautiful” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2006. The last British artist to do so had been Elton John in 1997. Blunt won two Brit Awards and was nominated for five Grammy Awards in 2006.
